How the calculator works

The calculator estimates payback period using four inputs:

1. Daily tray volume — drives both energy cost and labour comparison
2. Operating days per year — annualizes the daily figures
3. Current wash workers (FTE) — defines the labour replacement opportunity
4. Loaded hourly wage — fully-loaded cost including benefits and overhead

It assumes manual baseline of 60 trays/hour/worker (industry-standard hand-wash rate) and PTW-1900 throughput of 450 trays/hour. After PTW-1900 install, assumes a 0.25 FTE operator to load/unload — this is what most customers report after deployment.

Limitations

The calculator does not model:

• Tray replacement avoidance (longer tray life with mechanical wash)
• Worker compensation claim reduction
• Audit risk reduction
• Throughput-enabled revenue gain (more banquets per month, more flights catered, etc.)

For most operations these unmodeled benefits exceed the modeled savings. The calculator is intentionally conservative.
